Wordpress Plugin “Batch Categories”: Mass Editing For Your Posts Categories

In the past few days, I was trying to do “search engine optimization” or SEO. Well, I just learned a couple new things so I am trying them out.

So I started out clearing so many unnecessary TAGs on my posts using “Simple Tags” plugin by Amaury BALMER . Then when I came to the point wherein I needed to update the categories I encountered a big problem — there were so many posts that has no category!

So I was really hoping that I can find something that can help me “mass set categories” or batch process them. Imagine yourself trying to put categories to every posts manually using the EDIT feature of wordpress??? — it sucks and it is very tiresome and boring especially when most of your posts came from blogger/blogspot.

because of that, I had seek Google’s help. Using the keywords “batch categories post” THIS SITE came up. Thanks to this post I was able to find a solution for my problem. He actually had one other option which was WP-CATS but I guess I like the next one alot better.

Well he actually had the same problem like mine because he too came from blogger/blogspot. His found solution (and mine now as well) was something called BATCH CATEGORIES

What is it?

This WordPress plugin lets you batch edit your posts: assign multiple posts to a category or delete multiple posts from a category in one fell swoop. Version 1.2 and above also support WordPress 2.3’s in-built tagging system, allowing you to tag and un-tag multiple posts at once.

Batch Categories is compatible with WordPress 2.5+.

If you’re running WordPress 2.3.x, you’ll need Batch Categories 1.3.1 instead:

Installation

Simply upload the batch-categories folder to your wp-content/plugins folder, activate the plugin in the admin panel, and that’s it.

The administration screen itself is in Manage ? Batch Categories.

It very easy to use especially that you can sort and filter the post you wanted to edit. With just a couple of click on the checkbox, you are on your way to update each of your selected post at the same time.

I have not many any back up of my database when I used this… I was glad that it worked fine for me.
