This phone was bought a couple of days later after my sister bought her t11. I forgot to make a post about it but after I was staring at the phone a while ago for several minutes, I decided to finally write a review of t22 dual-active sim phone.

As we all know, this unit was brought here in the Philippines, well they actually own it, by the Solid Broadband corporation

So here are the following things we have found out. (It is pretty much the same as the T11, but with a difference on certain features)

    1. You need a sim card to to be able to start properly, else you will see a rather ugly numbered menu.

    2. Upon placing a sim, the ugly menu will turn into a graphical one divided into 4 sub categories - AV Zone, PIM, Entertainment and SYstem.

    AV Zone

    1. audio player

    2.video player

    3.video recorder

    4.camera

    PIM

    1.phone book

    2.messages

    3.call history

    4.organizer

    Entertainment

    1.fun & games

    2.services

    3.multimedia

    4.extra

    System

    1.settings

    2.user profile

    3.shortcuts

    4.filemanager

under those menus, you will find the usual stuff like in Nokia phones.

It fits into the hand just right. you wont have worries of it slipping.

It has two phone answer keys, one for each Sim you have

Since it uses a stylus, you will have to hold it most of the time with two hands. I kinda got my fingers cramped the first minutes of using it.

Never mind using you fingers to touch the screen (although possible) because you are sure to miss the spot.

It only has 2mb of internal memory.

Contains T9 support for multiple language (well in chinese variations mostly)

It sucks on video and picture taken during night time and low light conditions. Used preferably on daylight.

Supports up to 1600×1200 image capture

    Very very loud speakers! yeah

The USB connector is unlike those you will commonly see (i.e. mini, micro usb). imagine this, the end connecting to the phone is wider and about 1.5 the thickness of a common MMC.

    Records my voice clearly.

You can use handwriting in making messages. for example, while making a messages you wanted to put “hello”. all you need to do is handwrite “H” on the blank space then if your handwriting is legible it will produce an “H”. the hitch is that you need to spell it out one by one. Writing a whole name or word will produce a letter “m” instead.

On video capture mode, you have many options to choose from, many effects, and etc.

It has 3 built in games, “picture puzzle”, “square “and my “magic sushi”

It has a white keypad backlight.

You need to be careful on handling it because the place where the camera is located is embossed. Either you place a cloth underneath it or you will loose the paint and silver coating.

The screen is very big although low resolution, occupies 60% of the front face. (smaller than t11’s)

On the battery there is a “made in china” on it.

The ringtone volume will need to be set every time you change it. it can be set up to 7.

The ringtone selection is a choice of rings, midi sounds, and 5 personal tone which can be mp3 or not.

You cannot modify the message alert tone (meaning you cannot place mp3s as message tone).

The phone takes about 15 secs to shut down or to turn off.

The menu navigation asks a lot of question when going to one menu to another. It keeps on asking whether I want to quit or not, select or not, delete or not.
    an excerpt from www.myphone.com.ph

With the recent introduction of MyPhone T22 Duo, the first dual active SIM mobile phone in the Philippines , one can move seamlessly from one line to another without a hitch.

Launched last month at the Blue Leaf Clubhouse at the Fort, the T22 Duo has two SIM slots to ensure simultaneous activation of both lines and is compatible with all networks. That means one can make and receive calls and texts from two different lines without switching the other off. Basically, it’s two phones in one sleek package.

David Lim, president of Solid Group which distributes MyPhone, pointed out that the T22 Duo was designed to eliminate the hassle of lugging two phones around or constantly SIM-swapping.

“We are the first company to come out with a Dual Active SIM (DAS) phone that can have both lines active simultaneously. Our plan is to pursue the technology, and further it with innovations in style and technology for the future MyPhones. We want to make MyPhone synonymous with the ‘Dual Age of Mobile Phones,’” said Lim.

The T22 Duo boasts of a 2.4-inch liquid crystal display (where one can watch the latest downloaded episode of Heroes and other mp4 videos). Its stereo quality sound makes listening to mp3 songs an enjoyable experience. And for those cam whores who just can’t help snapping a picture of themselves, the phone has a 2-megapixel camera and GPRS.

Those who are all thumbs at marathon texting can even use the stylus to access the features on the touch screen.

It clearly states here in the excerpt the main difference of the t22 myphone dual sim. Unlike the other dual sim phones which requires you to choose one of the two sims in your phone, this t22 actually enables your 2 sims to be active at same time

My father and I tried testing the feature. While he was talking to another person on one of the Sim (smart) and i tried calling his PLDT Sim, and it actually received the call but it appeared on his phone as “on hold”. The choice was his whether to answer the call or not.

With regards to texts, whatever he is doing, he will just keep on receiving the text with no problem.

    this temporarily ends my post.

it is actually owned by my dad… and up until now he doesn’t seem to have any problems with it. he is in fact very glad that he had the phone.

if you are to buy it, I guess you should not expect much from the camera…it sucks.

I got this unit last week to accomodate my pldt prepaid sim. I should say a total downgrade. I cannot figure out how to be able to play mp4s when it says it can, but i tried everything and it wont. would you happen to know how? maybe there’s some thing that I am missing to do. i have been searching for a forum or something to help me out. I also downloaded the phonesuite from the myphone.com.ph site but there is just no clear instruction how it could be of any help.

thanks for the ear! God bless and happy blogging!

Does anyone know if the MyPhone T22 works abroad? My cousin wants to take it to the states so she doesn’t have to carry around a second phone for her roaming Smart sim. We’re not very technologically savvy, so we need all the answers we can get. Please help!

yep it should work fine… technically, it will all depend on your SIM module. Well, we are basing that from experience.

I brought my sister’s T-22Duo back to Chicago a couple of weeks ago. I was told that it should work here, but I haven’t been able to. I’ve played around with the settings and tried three different SIMs: GLOBE, SMART, and my local AT&T/CINGULAR -none of them worked. The screen says `NO SERVICE`. But all three SIMs work fine on other phones. Does T22 have to be unlocked or do I need to call my service provider(although,I doubt AT&T would help)? A few people have said that it is not locked, but what the **!?. I don’t even know what place unlocks phones here.
It would be great if i do get to use the T22. If anyone knows the solution, PLEASE HELP….
