Bought a pair of these guys yesterday at Cartimar, Pasay wherein you can get not only your aquarium supplies but for your dogs as well and they are very cheap.

This specie of fish is a native of Indonesia, Sumatra and Borneo and grow to be a foot long when grown in a big enough environment. They are very much active with at least 2 pairs because they are somewhat shy and sensitive fellows.

The reason I got them was because of a snail outbreak which recently got into my aquarium. According to what I’ve read lately, snail outbreak is very common specially when you have a plant filled aquarium. It started with a single snail, an “apple snail” to be exact, then came another, and another… waaaaa!! till finally I decided to search for a way to get rid of them since my plant are chewed from breakfast till dinner.

I have read many ways to kill/eliminate the snails. There was the salt solution, the lettuce, chemical but I kinda like the loach approach.

I really liked the loaches anyway, besides, they are very lively creatures.

Ciao!!!
