Janina San Miguel Bb. Pilipinas 2008 Scandal

I don’t know whether to really treat this as a scandal or such, but given the definition of “scandal = a disgraceful event” I guess it falls right in place.
This youtube video link was passed around the office a while earlier and so we watched. I am not that updated with events happening here at our country especially beauty pageants so I did not know this until now.
The video showed a girl named Janina San Miguel, a Binibining Pilipinas grand winner with an awfully bad English. She was 17 years old so you might be thinking that she is still young that is why she messed up. But I guess she could have answered in Tagalog instead of making an idiot of herself. Hehe… Don’t get me wrong, I am no excuse myself, I have had my shares of bad English. The thing is, she screwed up big, she didn’t mentioned anything related to the question but instead laugh which made many people angry, confused and bitter about she winning the title for this year.
Some said she was a beauty without brains because she got 2 other titles (best in long gown and bikini) along with the crown.
For me she was not really beautiful but I must say who am I to speak about beauty… Maybe the question and answer portion wasn’t enough of a percentage to tackle her down from winning the crown. For example, she might have had zero on the Q&A but got the other 80% perfectly.
But still… she made a pretty bad impression… What would the Koreans say? hehe..

Janina San Miguel: Well, my family’s role for me is so important b’coz there was the wa- they’re, they was the one who’s… very… Hahahaha… Oh I’m so sorry, Ahhmm… My pamily… My family… Oh my god… I’m… Ok, I’m so sorry… I… I told you that I’m so confident… Eto, Ahhmm, Wait… Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b’coz I’m only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the top 10. Hmmm, so… but I said that my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you.

grabe..wala n bang quality mga pageants ngaun?
anyway, iba naman n talaga ang pressure pag nasa contest ka na..pero di excuse ang age!
kung mali grammar,ok lang din..mapag-aaralan p yan..pero ung di masagot ng maayos ung tanong..gosh..naman!!! ano bang criteria meron ang mga judges?!!!

Kahit may stage fright ka…kung may laman utak mo, may masasagot ka…siguro naman sa age ng 17 marunong ka ng sumagot ng tanong…kahit sinong high school student na may utak…eh masagot kahit pano yung question…atsaka..please lang…ganyan na ba kabobo ang mga contestants tapos yan pa yung ihaharap natin sa MS. WORLD…feel ko mas matalino pa sa kanya si Ms. Melanie Marquez…kahit sabihing mong tinagalog nya yung sagot nya at least may sagot..

well, well, well..Ganyan n b tlga ang beauty pageant ng Pilipinas?..Pagandahan n lng cguro, wala ng brain..How did this girl win?..If you take a look at her face, body & height, pang-beauty queen talaga..BALUKTOT ANG ENGLISH…Hahaha…Paano sya nakalusot sa mga judges?..

on the real though, even your english in your blog isn’t completely correct.
it’s probably better if you read it before you posted it online, but just a suggestion.
and did you mean to point out that you’ve had your own share of poor english so that everyone else will notice that you clearly didn’t bother proofreading your blog before you posted it?
