IT Christmas Party From Dusk Till Dawn
By The Mouse Potato | December 15, 2006
Today is Saturday, 3:21 am. I couldn’t sleep because I went to bed yesterday at around 5:30 am as soon as arrived home. You might wonder why I was still out on the city during the wee hours.
Last thursday which was dated December 14, 2006, my department which is the IT dept., held its annual Christmas party. It was really fun. Everybody was laughing and we all went home happy.
That Thursday started out naturally. Everybody was busy doing their work (as usual). I myself have to read some documents in order to finish my task which was the creation of structural design patterns.
Then, after lunch, several of us started to prepare for the party. Those assigned for foods where missing in the office. My guess was that they were at their respective shops or house trying to buy/prepare the foods. Speaking of foods, everybody was eagerly waiting for the ‘Lechon Baboy’ (roasted pig) which was bought by non other than the Vice President of Araneta himself. When the ‘Lechon’ came, it filled the whole room with a very delicous aroma which definitely made us hungry. I became so hungry that I wanted to pick a crack of skin out of the ‘Lechon’. I told myself, “Just a small piece would definitely relieve me”. But despite my cravings, I remained still. I even skipped merienda so that when the time comes, I can eat all those delicous foods they are preparing. So I just ate some biscuits instead.
Slowly, the foods where coming. There were Bake Macaroni, Sushi and Maki, Grilled Tilapia, Chop Suey and of course, the Lechon. There was also a cake prepared, it was a surprise for the big boss since it was his birthday that day. When he came, everybody sang a birthday song. We find it hard to surprise him at first. We even thought that he already knew about the surprise. Well he sure was an intelligent observer. Afterwards, the big boss did the honors of slicing up the Lechon.
After eating, we played some games. The first game we played was “paper dance”. This is a game wherein the participants (2 each) dance around their respective pieces of newspaper with music of course. When the music stops, the partners must step into the newspaper without any part of the feet exceeding the border of the paper. It sounds easy but actually it isn’t. I managed to stay up for 3 rounds then that was it. Two girls won the game (rosa and judy). Then we next
played “longest line”. We made 3 teams, mostly composed of boys. As the name of the game implies, we needed to create the longest line in order to win using only things that we are currently wearing. When the game started everybody started undressing themselves. I removed my polo and laid it on the floor, then my two ID laces, then my handkerchief, then my shoes and my socks. I couldn’t take off anything than those things. My group mates removed their pants just to win. They also removed their shirts, even necklaces and other stuffs. Luckily our team won. It was really a fun and tiresome game. But everybody sure was happy. Afterwards, we played “pinoy henyo” (henyo means genius). It was a guessing game wherein each group would have two representatives at a time. One representative would just answer ‘yes’, ‘no’ and ‘maybe’ and the other would be guessing. The one guessing will have a blindfold and a word placed on the on his/her forehead. Then the one guessing will start asking questions. He must guess what was the word on his forehead before the time is up. Otherwise they wouldn’t have any points. That was the last game we played.
Next was the exchanging of gifts. It was kinda funny since most of the gifts were wall clocks. Some even wrapped up weighing scales. There were also mugs and desktop stuffs. The exchanging of gifts was last in the programme.
Then the guest started leaving as well as other office members. That is when I and the guys prepared for our own party, the Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) party. There were around 14 of us left. 11 of use played. DOTA is a MOD map for Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne. We held on 3 games with me and my team losing all of them. Anyway it was meant for fun. The games lasted for hours. When we stopped playing, it was already 2:30 am Friday. Afterwhich, we lingered for a while before going home. 3 of us went ahead while the remaining of us planned something else. Then that was when our dept head, Mr. Mike, decided to treat us in a near “Tapsilogan” house. After cleaning up, we went ahead to eat. At around 4:30 am, we have finished our little food trip. Everybody went on their ways. I went along with Don, JL and Ziad. I was supposed to sleep over Don’s house but I decided to go home instead since it is already 4:30 am. I was amazed that I was sleepy yet despite the time at hand.
I arrived home at around 5:30 am yesterday as I have said earlier. I woke up 3pm later that afternoon. I was shocked that I was asleep that long. Well, I must be very tired indeed.
Well, that is all for now… Ciao!
