Only 18 Days Till Christmas

It is only 18 days to Christmas here in the Philippines yet the spirit can already be felt miles and miles away.
At our house, we haven’t got much to display. My mom just placed a medium-size christmas tree and decorated it with flowers, balls and twinkling lights just so we could say that we have the christmas spirit at home. Well, to tell you the truth, our family isn’t the type that will spend money just to shower our house with decorations. Especially that money is an issue we are confronting even during this season. But worst comes to worst, my mom still persist to come up with ideas.
Gifts…Hmmm…
I haven’t had any ideas about gifts for christmas. Can’t I just say ‘Merry Christmas’ as a gift? Maybe i’ll add a big hug and a kiss as bonus ? (if they want). But according to my observing senses, people’s perception about christmas is far from what it should be. According to the old wise geezer’s sayings, ‘Christmas is not about material gifts and presents, it is about giving love to one another’. Well, many says that this is bulls#!t. Maybe because of the current status of our country. But I say to myself that we are filipinoes and we certainly can do something about it. Maybe a card with a thoughtful message should suit my needs. Anyways, the presence of all your love ones will greatly count.
It is already cold everywhere. In conjunction with this, cold and flu are also at large. But I enjoy cold seasons more than anything else. I have high resistance to cold weather. I can walk all around Baguio wearing only a sando and a pair of shorts.
I still got many things to finish. However I think that I am getting tired already. Maybe I badly need a break. I haven’t done any vacation since I came toAraneta. Maybe, me getting sick is a sign that says ‘Neil, my handsome dude, you need to take a break…’
