Beware — Accidents Just Happen
By The Mouse Potato | August 14, 2006
It is always true that accidents are just around the corner. As a matter of fact, today, my youngest sister rubielyn was caught in one.
Our house is leveled lower than the road outside because of the adjustments made on the road years back to prevent flood problems. Because of this, stepping inside through the main door requires a slight effort to reach the floor. To solve this problem, we had place a wooden step just enough for someone stepping in to maintain balance while going inside the house since there was this piece of metal sheet placed between the two doors that serves as a divider and protector against dust and water. It was place there eversince I remembered. But today, my father moved the wooden steps to his workplace to be used as a clamp holder.
When 10 am came, my youngest sister came home from school as usual. So being always excited to change clothes and watch television, she stepped without hesitation through the door which I was talking about. After that came a loud shrieking voice (as my father described it). My sister was outbalanced from stepping at something that wasn’t there. What made things worst was that her organ was slammed on the piece of metal. It bleed continously which made my parents frantic. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and was admitted for further observations. There is still a possibility that she will undergo an operation.
All we can do now is hope and pray that whatever happened to her will be gone by tomorrow.
